The Solution: Veres Delta

Veres Delta is our internal blockchain development tools packaged for an external audience. We like to think of Delta as a practical, base layer for your Proof of Concept or Pilot Project. We built private label blockchain solutions for large Fortune 100 companies and national governments.

While we can’t name our clients yet, you might be able to "read between the lines." Veres Delta uses the same technology we used to build Veres One, the world's first production-grade Decentralized Identifier Ledger.

An Adaptive Framework

Flexible Data Model

At the core is Veres Delta’s flexible JSON-based semantic data model. This data model enables developers to use their existing tooling to quickly tune their blockchain to specific market verticals (trade supply chains, regulatory auditing, medical information sharing, etc.) without having to cram their idea into a constraining data model designed for a different use, like Bitcoin or Ethereum.

Modular Design

We’ve thought through the architecture layering, storage subsystems, consensus protocols, and HTTP APIs. Our design, which uses the Web Ledger protocol, enables different fit-for-purpose blockchains to use the same HTTP APIs, core data model, and syntax. This minimizes client code and maximizes reusability. Our pluggable modules contain: Storage engines (MongoDB), Consensus engines (Continuity, Unilateral), Data engines (market vertical-specific data models; e.g. supply chain, healthcare, food safety), Query engines (market vertical-specific indexing and searching of information).


Veres Delta is benchmarked at 200 operations per second. That's 17 million blockchain operations per day, and over 6 billion operations per year. Delta employs the world’s first wait-free consensus mechanism, which means you can rely on the blockchain with absolute certainty within seconds. No more waiting for minutes to hours as you do with Bitcoin or Ethereum.

Self Sovereign Identity

Identity management is often an essential part of a blockchain network. Delta blockchains can be configured to work with Decentralized Identifiers and Verifiable Credentials, two standards-based technologies that when combined can satisfy most identity management needs in a privacy preserving and user-centric manner. We’ve taken these standards and created Veres One for Decentralized identifiers and for digital credentialing.

Founders of Digital Bazaar authored the JSON-LD specification which is used by Microsoft, Google, Yandex, and global search engines to categorize everything on the web.

Authored Web Specs

Digital Bazaar has authored multiple global standards and pre-standards, including: RDFa 1.1, JSON-LD, Signing HTTP Messages, Verifiable Credentials, Decentralized Identifiers, CapAuth, Web Ledger, Activity Pub and other foundational self-administered identity technology.

Web Payments

We created the Web Payments and Credential Handler Polyfills which enable all browsers to support the W3C specifications without requiring a specific browser upgrades. We co-founded the Web Payments work at W3C.

Web-Critical Systems

Our organization maintains a number of Web-critical reference implementations and systems, including JSON-LD, Linked Data Signatures/Proofs, Veres One, Forge, and the permanent identifier service.
